Full Version: Timeout causing images not to display? (Apache2, RHEL3)
The Planet Forums > Operating Systems > Red Hat Linux

Hello,

I've recently moved from an old server (SuperCeleron 1.7) to a better one (SuperCeleron 2.4). Apache at the old server was standard RHEL3 installation, and at the new server is CentOS package.

I've noticed that at some pages with many (but not too many) photos, say 10-20, some photos would not display. I played with KeepAlive Off and On(with maximum up to 1000 items in a connection), but nothing helped. Sometimes this photo doesn't play, sometimes that photo.

An example can be seen at http://msum.org/photos - try some gallery there.

I moved the same websites to another server that I have at ServerMatrix, and it seems to render all photos.

What can cause a problem here? Apache configuration? Network configuration? (like TCP connection being shut down too quick?)

Unix load on the server is very low, near zero, so I can't understand this incapability to deliver all linked images.

Seems like CentOS Apache build enables MPM and I need to setup a larger number of threads here. It works somehow at this moment, but I still need to check. And I would like to hear some experienced voice from the forum.

Thanks.

Still doesn't work for some of my clients. How can the server cuts down connections so fast, so that not all pictures are displayed?

I have rolled back Apache to RHEL3 version, keeping only PHP 4.4.2 from CentOS. It seems to be OK now.
