I have RHEL 4 on my server, if I try to boot kernel 2.6.9-34 it tries to fsck after the partition is already mounted, and then asks for the maintenance password, however 2.6.9-22 boots fine. Any sugestions?

You are lucky. Try to avoid this kernel. You will end up with high iowait like we did on our server.

I advice you to compile at least 2.6.10 - it works smooth for us - it should work smooth for you.
