does servermatrix allow for "ip address takeover" or a "floating ip addresses" so that we can have two servers to serve as the front end of a load balanced cluster?

i know that the static ip addresses are locked for each independent server, but what about virtual IPs?

here is what i mean by "ip address takeover"

http://www.vergenet.net/linux/has/html/node8.html

you can see the proposed setup in the following picture:

we know about the SM load balancing solution, but have heard that it is not too stable.

thanks for any help with this.

We have 3 servers at SM and 7 at TP and are using heartbeat+ldirectord in both clusters. For SM, they configured the 3 servers in the same /28 subnet, but that was 2 years ago. For TP, I also got the 7 of them in a /26 subnet, but it took a few calls and explaining the sales people what I needed. At first they refused, and a few days later they said they could do it and that it was actually easier for them to setup just 1 subnet than 7 separate ones.

BTW, I bought private switches for both clusters.
