Full Version: New Server - WHM Problems - Services not running/reflecting
The Planet Forums > Control Panels > cPanel/WHM
FlexJGuy
Yesterday TP installed Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Version 4 with WHM/cPanel.
Now, we have a celeron 2.4 box as well and it works just fine on there.

But the new box, the guy whoever set it up did it completely different from the 2.4 and not at all
like cPanel recommends it.

Alot of services are not running(or not reflecting) in the WHM Status page.

--
The server we have already is showing these services as running and it does follow the cpanel recommendations:
------------------------------
cpsrvd up
exim (exim-4.52-7_cpanel_smtpctl_av_rewrite_mm2_mmmtrap_exiscan_md5pass) up
eximstats up
ftpd up
httpd (1.3.33 (Unix)) up
imap up
mysql (4.0.25-standard) up
named (9.2.4) up
pop up
spamd up
syslogd up
Server Load 0.33 (1 cpu)
Memory Used 36.3 %
Swap Used 8.10 %
Disk hda6 (/) DMA+ 33 %
Disk hda1 (/boot) DMA+ 41 %
Disk hda5 (/home) DMA+ 22 %
Disk hda7 (/tmp) DMA+ 67 %
Disk hda2 (/usr) DMA+ 39 %
Disk hda3 (/var) DMA+ 45 %
-------------------------------------

The new box we have is missing ALOT of those services and partitions:

----------------------------
named (9.2.4) up
cpsrvd up
Server Load 0.00 (2 cpus)
Memory Used 24.9 %
Swap Used 0.01 %
Disk hda3 (/) DMA+ 6 %
Disk hda1 (/boot) DMA+ 18 %
----------------------------

/home /usr /var /tmp do exist when i login on SSH but they are not reflected in WHM.
How on earth do i fix this? :S

Thanks for any help icon_smile.gif

For the status of some services not reflecting in WHM, enable them in the Service Manager (under the Service Configuration) heading. Once you have them displayed, you should have a better idea if anything is still amiss icon_wink.gif
FlexJGuy
Under "Service Manager" they are enabled and should be running.
But still they do not show on the WHM Status page.
FlexJGuy
DOH!

They are enabled but i had to check "Motinor" for them to display on the status page.
The services apache, pop, exim etc are now showing so this is resolved now.

The /home /usr /var /tmp still do not showup there though. Any idea how i can get this to reflect on the status page ?

The monitor options is a relatively new addition to WHM. That's why you missed it the first time icon_biggrin.gif

I think all the disk mounts should show up automatically in the Service Status. On our latest server, /var and /tmp are normal directories (rather than partitions mounted at those positions) and hence do not show up in Service Status. You can use the Service Status option to see the partitions on your disk.

The status page basically uses the same output as the 'df' command. Therefore, it will only show those directories if they are seperate partitions.

Ah, you mean they now allow RHEL 4 and Cpanel/WHM ? I was begging them for that combination just a couple of weeks ago and they told me that that was not an option they will support so I had to go with RHEL 3 and Cpanel/WHM.

I don't see why the wouldn't. I have never seen any issues with RHEL 4 / CPanel.
