I am extremely nw to windows servers and helm. I have no idea how to login to helm. With linux (cPanel) you have http://hostname/whm - what do you use for helm - as the server admin?

also in IIS you can set the HELM control panel to run of a dedicated IP. then have a global dns called CP or control so each domain has http://cp.domain.com etc....

if you need help let me know, am a helm expert icon_wink.gif used it since it very first came out many years ago icon_biggrin.gif

Or Helm can be on a shared IP and using host headers, be set to whatever you want.

FYI, Helm is not Cpanel, it doesn't not control your box for you and will not come setup out of the box.

Yea ... I've since learnt a lot about Helm and really can see that while its good cPanel is very comprehensive.

I like th elook of Helm but I find navigating around it to be staggered a little - not easy to get where you want fast like in cPanel. But overall its still good. Although one thing thats bothering me is its not as clearly setup in terms of Users and Resellers like cpanel. I mean if I want to create a new shared windows account with a single domain the "Users" area doesn't really allow this - its like you can only setup things for Resellers. I know you can setup a "Domain" - I assume this is meant to be a normal customer user?

Is the best way to use Helm to setup a Reseller account for yourself as the Host and setup single domain accounts from withint a Reseller account???

If you don't have any resellers, then set yourself up as a reseller with unlimited resources. Then add your hosting clients under that reseller as "Users".

"Domains" will be added to "Users", not "Resellers".

I am totally lost as to MS SQL and ODBC DSNs - whatever they are. I mean in Linux/cpanel its MySQL and each user can create as many Databases as you allow. Then they simply connect to the MySQL server through scripts etc.

In windows HELM comes with some kind of SQL Database - I don't know what it is and even if people want it? Do I need to get MS SQL for a windows server - as a typical hosting server? Does asp, asp .NET require MS SQL? What are all the other Hosts using? Do I buy a license and install it on the server or is MS SQL on a separate different server? The Planet sales offered this to me:
QUOTE
Dedicated MS SQL is $200.00/month -single processor $350.00/month -dual processor -both have a $50.00 installation fee. MS SQL Work Group Edition 2000 is $69.00/month per processor

Does this mean that on my Dual Xeon having MS SQL will cost $350/m and having MS SQL Work Group Edition will cost $138/m?
Are other hosts using MS SQL Work Group or the MS SQL $350/m one?
Will I get any customers with just MySQL? Which is free and I am familar with it.

Also how do you purchase IPsec and install it?

As you can see I'm full of questions icon_smile.gif I'm basically wondering am I going to get any customers without MS SQL?
