Full Version: How long for an OS reload

Hello...

Does anyone has any experience of how long an OS reload take recently, will it be over 24 hours? A tech told me it is normally under 24 hours but now I've just been told 24 - 72 hours.

I hope it's not 3 days :/

Why they haven't introduced a $100 emergency 4 hour reload I don't know. Surely the fees would cover the costs of any additional staff (assuming one tech can do several OS reloads at a time, and that automated processes could handle a lot of the reload process).

I'd happily pay $100 for a 4 hour reload!

I'd expect at least 48 hrs.

If you can afford it, a good solution is to have one or more backup servers and have the TTL for your important domains relatively low so you can easily switch to a working server while the techs fix up the broken one.

Looking at our queues, I don't see any reason it would take that long to perform your OS reload at the moment. We like to overquote time and come in under rather then quote a time and then maybe go over.

Is there any chance of hiring additional staff solely for doing OS reloads (or at least have that as first priority on their duties)? If the normal wait is 24-48 hours, surely that would indicate a shortage of staff with respect to customer demand. Of course, feel free to institute premium fee for express services.

I have never, and I hope I never will, require an OS reload. However, should the unthinkable happen and I need one, I would gladly pay $100 to get a reload within 2 hours rather than wait 24-48 hours.

We certainly understand the concerns for OS reload times.

If you only need an OS reload without any special instructions, our auto OS reload feature is used and this goes through very fast. Any special requests will delay an OS reload from happening as we have to screen it to see what is required.

We have a couple of items on the list that we believe will speed up OS reload times. We should hopefully see improvements within the next week or two as at least one of the items gets pushed through.

Thanks thanh, mine had a special partition so I can understand the delay now...took 24hours in the end.
