WebRat
To the "Cortex Crew". Thanks for all your time and setting up Teamspeak for us.
I wanted to give some of my time back. Hopes this helps some of you out.

How to install and setup your Teamspeak server.
Log into Cortex
Click on Engines
Click install Teamspeak then next > button
Click on Instances, then the tiny little "add" button in the uper right hand corner
Select the Teamspeak engine
Install and follow the instructions
You are now ready to start your Teamspeak server

Advanced users.
When in the Cortex "Instances" with your TS running there will be a Web Administration with your address in it
Username = admin
Password is what you set in the set up of the Teamspeak engine

Server Settings:
Add your server name and welcome message
ServerType Clan or Public,
Clan = you can see all people in the entire TS
Public = only see people in the channel you are in
Click save

User manager:
Add Client
LogInName: add login name
PassWord: add password
ServerAdmin: Check
Click "Add"

Now open your TS program
Click "Connection" then "Connect"
Click Local Address Book Tab
Right click on servers and "Add server"
Label what ever so you know what server it is
Server Address without the port number
Nick name = what ever
Check "Registered"
Login name is what you entered in the "User manager"
User Password is the same as in the "User manager" again
Click "Connect"

You should now be logged into your new TS server with a (R SA) next to your name
R = Registered
SA = Server Admin
Make your rooms
Use the Codec: Speex 25.9 Kbit for the best sound quality

Good info, Maybe a sticky for this one.
mekiller
will this take up more bandwidth doing it this way........

what are the advantages on running the instances of teamspeak??
klaude
The bandwidth should be the same. Teamspeak can run a number of virtual servers under the same binary, but that doesn't really fit in with Cortex's engine->instance design, so we're making instances of Teamspeak. It'll work just fine and you won't use any more bandwidth.
WebRat
Is this worthy of a sticky Kevin?
klaude
Yes it is!

Nice job WebRat.

When every i go into my instances to see my servers it says
QUOTE
Teamspeak@70.86.64.250:51234: ERROR, invalid login

any ideas?
WebRat
My guess is that it is the port you have listed, "51234" but your TS is on port 8767.
Maybe look around and see why it is displaying that port number?
You TS is running ok tho?

yea it runs fine im on it all the time
AreYouServed
I've seen this a few times.

I've found that if you restart the instance, it normally goes away. Sometimes a restart of the Cortex Cluster is needed.

Is it possible to add ventrilo to cortex?

Not unless they change their product licensing. We've been unable to negotiate a deal with them. Until then we can't put it in Cortex.
KT_Clan
Isn't to set up a server of ventrilo free now?
KT_Clan
Wait never mind I just saw that you cant have more than 8 for free then you have to pay sorry for wasting your time if I did. I didn't realize you can only do so many for free.

Did you by any chance import your users from another TS server? I did and this was the error I got until I manually added and admin account to the TS server. Cortex seems to create two accoutns. A super admin account and an admin account. In my case the admin account's password was the rcon password I provided and the port number I selected.

To fix it I simply went into the TS web interface and created an admin account.

i want to put a banner on our ts server. i looked on the ts website and it says we have to edit the server ini file. we dont have access to edit that file in cortex. has anyone put a banner on their ts server and if so how? here is what it says to do from ts website.

Q: How do I get a banner on my server?

A:
To stop all the confusion about how to put a banner into the top-right corner of the client:
You don't need any TCP query command for it, it's as easy as editing the server.ini.

Append the following lines to your server.ini file:

[ISP]
GFX URL=http://available.for.all.clients/image.jpg

Requirements:
You need the TeamSpeak 2 server version 2.0.20.1 or later.
You need to have superadmin rights (in case you rent a server, you will most surely do not have superadmin rights).
The image has to be in JPG-format.
Try to keep the filesize as small as possible (< 50 KBytes). Too large banner files caused problems in the past.
The maximal image size is 300x150 pixels.
All clients must have access to the image file so you can't store it just simple on your harddisk. It is known that some image hosters cause problems. You might find more info in our Forums.
The server has to be restarted to make a change to the server.ini effective. Simply restarting any virtual server is NOT enough!

In case you want to link your banner with a website (on-click), do the following:
Open the file server.ini that is created in the same directory where the server executable is located.
Look for the following line in section [WebPost]:

ISPLinkURL=

Modify it like this:

ISPLinkURL=http://www.GoTeamSpeak.com
Do NOT add a second entry called ISPLinkURL= as this won't work.

In case you have configured a new banner file but still the old file is beeing shown, please notice that every banner is stored in the file imagecache.ini, which should be located in the following folder:

%AppData%/teamspeak2/

In the latest client version (2.0.32.60) this cache file does not update automatically. You'll have to delete the old image files manually.

here is the url to the photo i want to use

thanks in advance for your help

Something should be added to the first post mentioning that the following settings for the "Server Admin" usergroup must be turned on in order for Cortex to actually work with the TS engine:

- AccessWebAdminServer
- AccessTcpServer
