Just wondering the differences as I am looking for a new Windows server and see both options being offered in most places. Thanks.

Ahh thank you. Would web edition be fine for a server only being used to host a game server and nothing else? I dont see anything a game server would need that Web does not have, but I could be wrong.

According to http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003...webedition.mspx

Windows Server 2003, Web Edition, was specifically designed to be used as a single-purpose Web server.

I run web here at home, not much different than standard I run on SM's network. Personally I would use standard for games.

I don't think you have any choice about that, the licensing restrictions in web edition would pretty much prevent you from running any non-web application.
