Full Version: Can BIND DNS server operate on multiple domains?

My question is involving BIND DNS server.

I was wondering if I could have the DNS server operating on more than one domain name - perhaps unique IPs, but maybe not.

So, for example, I have the following URLs mapped to my server's IP:

hidayahonline.org
pillarsofislam.net

I run my DNS on ns1.hidayahonline.org and ns2.hidayahonline.org...

Is it possible to also run my SAME DNS server on ns1.pillarsofislam.net and ns2.pillarsofislam.net?

The reason I'm asking this is because my DNS timing for my .net site is much poorer than for my .org site, due to reasons mostly related to the name server operating on a different TLD than the URL being looked up.

Any comments would be most appreciated! Thanks in advance!

each domain name needs a dns records, now you can have multiple dns servers but you can not add 1site.com to 2site.com dns record -- 1site.com needs its own and 2site.com needs its own
