My primary concern has been trying to research the best product that will reduce the amount of false positives as close to "0" as possible.

One solution is to make sure the program has an unsure type setup where definitive spam is moved to a spam folder and unsure levels are moved to another "unsure" folder.

I am guessing http://spambayes.sourceforge.net/applications.html does this the best, but i'd like to here some other feedback.

http://assp.sourceforge.net also seems like a great option.

Would love to start up a discussion on what not only is best at moving spam in IMAP to the appropriate spam folder, but more importantly doesn't tag valid email (false positives) as spam that usually is never to be seen again.

Looking forward to sharing more thoughts icon_smile.gif

PS- this is a great link i found too: http://www.rvskin.com/index.php?page=public/antispam

I really really like ASSP. I haven't significantly used your other options.

ASSP is not really setup 'out of the box' as a per-user spam solution though. While you can disable filtering for specific domains or email addresses, in general it's geared for serverwide filtering, and there aren't really many options for users.

My ASSP install is working very well and gets very very few false positives (mostly junky looking newsletters, and sometimes the occasional two sentence email from a non-whitelisted user). I have my ASSP out of 'Test Mode' so it rejects detected spam emails after the data phase, (so it keeps a copy for the spam db). I have it forward all spam emails to a central mailbox that I run through occasionally to check for false positives.

I like ASSP because it doesn't overload users with (marked) real spam, and yet it notifies senders of nondelivery if their email was detected as spam.

I just moved to a total control box, and decided to use my gold admin time this month to have the fabulous TP support team take care of installing ASSP right icon_smile.gif

I have been using spambayes and find it to be a good client side solution. I like the fact that it has a "Junk suspects" folder for stuff it is not sure about. It rarely gets false positives (mostly emails without message bodies)

Let us know how you go with ASSP
