Ok i have been reading and searching, but as a boob, am still confused by what i should allow for SM monitoring in APF

they sent this :
CODE
If you set firewall or IPTable rules on your server, please be sure to have them configured to allow inbound and outbound traffic on all ports (TCP & UDP 1-65535)

from:

 12.96.160.0/24 (12.96.160.*)

 67.19.0.0/24 (67.19.9.*)

 216.234.234.0/24. (216.234.234.*)

so should i enter it in apf 12.96.160.0/24 or 12.96.160.* and i heard the * opens all the ports in and out so i dont have to define those?

Thanks

No, you don't need to specify ports. By "allowing" those hosts, you are essentially disabling the firewall for them. And no, the * isn't necessary, the /24 takes care of that.

Thank you.

Ok, got all those rules in and tried firing it up to test, and all i get is :

hostname: Unknown host

like 20 times in a row then [ OK ]

not sure where i am supposed to configure hostname?

Thanks

Alright, so i found a thread that said what i need is ip and hostname in the /etc/hosts

I have an insomnia server for gaming, so not really sure what ip or hostname i use?? I have 5 ips for games, but no hostname.
