We've been going back and forth with Valve software for a while about our hosted content servers, how we can make them better for you guys. They told us of a cool option to put into Steam.cfg:
CODE
PreferredContentServerIDs = "87 87 88"
Put this into Steam.cfg in the directory where HLDSUpdateTool.exe or your steam binary is. This will cause Steam to attempt to gather all updates from the SM or I365 hosted content servers before any others. This is good in that you'll be grabbing updates from something local, and hopefully have less time to wait during updates. Give this a try and let me know if it helps things out.

Oh nice....will do.
You have two 87s, is that a typo?

Steam has an algorithm that determines the three best content servers to try and download from. In this case we're telling steam that the three best are our two servers.

Most shouldn't have this file. You can create one though. This should work for all games that are installed by Steam.

Cool, will also cut down TP external bandwidth usage.

Where should this be on our i365 servers?

It will only cut down on incomming bandwidth, which TP barely uses anyhow

Put it in your {cortex_root}/engines/HLServer or your {cortex_root}/engines/srcds directory. {cortex_root} is c:i365 on Windows systems and /usr/local/i365 on Linux systems.

I would have to venture a guess that no "official" reply to your question, plus the fact this thread is 3 years old and that I365 / Cortex are gone, that your answer would be no.

Well there's no way for me to check this other than to ask,
Especially considering that I doubt Valve lets people provide content servers willy nilly...
Furthermore, one of the servers was SM and had nothing to do w/ i365, lol

Sorry you didnt get the reply you needed or wanted, but furthermore SM = TP now and I365 = TP Gaming Division and I365 = Dead, your answer would still be the same, lol

1) Server Matrix has always been the Planet
2) Just because i365 is not operated by the planet any longer, it doesn't mean they do not have one or more Steam content servers.

1) Ooops I put a "now"
2) I365 isnt operated by ANYONE , its gone, what logical reason would they have to continue to run steam content servers?
You didnt get any answers here, so if your a customer, drop an email or ticket.
Just use the hldsupdatetool.exe to download server content.
