Full Version: HELM and SQL Server

I was wondering if anyone is running HELM and SQL Server 2000 on the same box.

I know when helm is installed it uses MSDE. If I go ahead and run the SQL 2000 install will it simply upgrade the MSDE to Full SQL 2000 Server and helm will be fine?

Thanks for your help.

Cheers

WHA just released a new version of the Helm installer, it lets you select to install MSDE or to run Helm via another version of SQL server that you may have installed. My suggestion would be to install your SQL Server, then install Helm using the new installer they released last week.

I use both of then at the same time in some servers of mine...

it is simple and has no conflict

you can install SQL server at first place and then install helm control panel

you can let helm install his msde instance if you want

then you will have 2 situations:

1) helm will has it's own instance very well secure because it will only accept windows authentication...

2) SQL 2k will have his own instance too but you can use it for shared enviroment using trusted connection with login and password...

obs. both of then will be located at the same folder inside of SQLserver at Program Files folder..
