Once my Dual Xeon server is set-up, could anybody walk me through on installing PHP and then possibly setting up some PHPBB forums? Thanks so much
Guspaz
You might try using up2date if it's a linux box. Something like "up2date -i php" might do the trick.

It's a Windows Server 2003 box.

Do you need to specifically install PhpBB or any one would do ?

If you are looking for a free Windows specific Forum, you can look at the Community Server at http://www.communityserver.org/ . It is .NET based and works well on Windows icon_wink.gif

Well, I figured out how to install PHP (I used some Easy PHP program) but I still need to know a couple more things. When I access the PHPBB forums, it takes me to the install page and asks for several options. Anyone who has worked with PHPBB forums before, please respond to this post and tell me what you think I should put icon_razz.gif . By the way, I am testing all of this on my home computers, so please inform me of anything I need to do different once the Dual Xeon server gets set-up. Thanks

do you have MySQL set up on your box?

Well, the Easy PHP did it for me. How would I check that information? I'm still workin this out on my home computer, by the way. Still waitin for the Dual Xeon box to go up.

Here, I'll post a link and see if you can figure anythin out. Some stuff is in a different language, lol.

It claims to install Apache too. So if you are not planning to use IIS then just disable it. If you are planning to use IIS then EasyPHP might not work for you natively.

Yea

Also, if you plan on running alot of stuff on that box, I would go ahead and install MySQL and PHP seperatly. Those "easy" programs can turn out to be a pain in the ass.

.my opinion.

You put the values you setup specifically for the forum. Nobody can tell you the name of the database, the username, and the password you created (or didn't create) for the forum. Only you know that.
