Hey all, got a strange one. Hopefully someone here can help me out.
This morning it appears that either my DNS or the ISP's nameservers are refusing to resolve any of my domains. This has happened before, but now that the machine is in a production environment its not a good thing.
If you all could let me know if you can resolve www.thenetstep.com or thenetstep.com it would be greatly appreciated.
I am using MS DNS server and HELM control panel to manage everything. Has anyone else have an issue like this where it just seems to quit resolving names?
The nameserver for these domains are ns1 & ns2.netmanpro.com however sometimes when i go and do a lookup on the nameservers they won't resolve anymore either. Or ns1 will and ns2 won't, or vice versa. This is ever so strange as to why it would quit working then start again. Obviously I must have a configruation problem, but I have been all over looking for the answer to this issue.
Can anyone give me any ideas or places to start and check my config? I really need to get this thing ironed out before more clients get on this machine.
I am willing to pay for someone that can resolve this also.
Thanks everyone![/code]

It seems possible that something modified the DNS records.
http://www.dnsreport.com/tools/dnsreport.c...=thenetstep.com
shows this error :-
QUOTE
FAIL Nameserver name validity ERROR: One or more of the NS records that your nameservers report are invalid:
c22227_48883. is not a valid host name
FAIL Missing (stealth) nameservers FAIL: You have one or more missing (stealth) nameservers. You need to make sure that these stealth nameservers are working; if they are not responding, you may have serious problems! The DNS Report will not query these servers, so you need to be very careful that they are working properly.
c22227_48883.
This is listed as an ERROR because there are some cases where nasty problems can occur (if the TTLs vary from the NS records at the root servers and the NS records point to your own domain, for example).
Any idea what this c22227_48883 is all about ? Did you change your hostname or something ?

Well that is actually the name of the computer itself. Should it be removed? It has always been there, and knowing that it is the true windows hostname I never touched it.

Yes, the outside world doesn't need to know the internal name of your server! Anyway, your domain seems to work ok now.

Well here is a even funnier thing....
I fixed everything listed on the DNSReport you guys showed me, and I still can't get my site up. How long would my ISP cache this thing?
Any other ideas or places to look for stuff? Could it be that ns1 & ns2.netmanpro.com are the nameservers I want to use, but the name servers for netmanpro.com are actually ns3 & ns4.webminders.com? Could that be causing these strange bits of confusion?
Thanks for all your help thus far!

It seems to be working for me here.
Could be a cache thing.
I am not sure if this would help but you could try doing a
ipconfig /renew at the command prompt.
Incidentally, if you were to RDC into your server and use the IE on the server, could you see your site ?
