Full Version: What can I run on the 2.8

For me money is an object so I want to save as much of it as possible.

If I had the 2.8 could I run two 32 player game servers (CS, BF or UT) and a voice server at the same time?

I know a duel processor server would be better but I dont want to spend that much.
klaude
You can Run two of either of those just fine. Watch out though if you're running BF or BFV and you want to start running other games as BF uses more CPU than the others.
theyTyrant
so coud I run two BF/BFV servers at the same time?

coud I run 3 servers at the same time with that box? (maybe if only one or two were BF servers?0

...any thoughts on how BF2 would change the equation?

also,
- do I get desktop access to the server is or is all via Cortex?
- is there FTP access?
- can I use 3rd party managers like BB0 BFSM?
klaude
I have no idea on BF2. Since it's not out for a few months it'll be some time before we can benchmark it.

can you answer the other questions?

Yes. But look for errant CPU spikes on map loads.

Yes, but again with BF anf BFV you'll need to keep a watch on your CPU usage.

All TP/SM/I365 servers come with remote access, either via RDP for Windows or SSH for Linux. I365 servers also come with the supercool Cortex control panel.

There will be after you set up an FTP server. icon_wink.gif We give you the OS in it's default state. What you do with ti from there is your business.

Absolutely, but it's best to not use Cortex to control your BF servers if you're going to use a management program like BBO. It's been our experience that two programs trying to control the same game server can lead to certain instabilities.

I thought you pre-loaded the games in the original setup and then we take it from there...is this not true?
klaude
We do not preload any games. Cortex lets you install supported games with a few mouse clicks though. icon_smile.gif
