Hi ,

I have a question

I want to host 2 websites on a dedicated server here,

i can use Virtual Private Server Software or Control Panel Software ,

but because Control Panel Software is cheaper, i want to know does the quality will be same as when Virtual Private Server or is there any disadvantages ?

whats limits then ?

VPS will provide each site with root access, different configurations of system settings, and allocated resources. Control Panel's use the same system config for all sites, no virtual root access, and shared resources. I don't see any reason to use a VPS to just split up 2 sites. Use cPanel or Helm or Plesk or whatever control panel you want.

If both of the sites are yours then the issue about offering separate root access to the two sites would be quite a redundant issue. With the overheads of the VPS, you be better off with just a control panel.

well ,

im gonna to install flash communication servers on both sites and run a flash chat on both, still no difference ?

Shouldn't expereince much of a difference, if any.

In fact I think you be better using it as a single server rather than spilt it up as a VPS.

This way you only need to run one copy of any thing you want to run rather than 2 copies on top of the VPS infrastructure.

There are a few instances where a VPS is handy for one person. For example, game servers. Most VPS systems do resource management to stop one VPS from consuming all the CPU or disk power. By putting game servers into a VPS with little overhead such as Virtuozzo or Xen, you could isolate them and prevent one server from affecting the performance of the other. For example if one server was loading a new map, you'd reduce the impact on the second VPS.

That would depend on if the VPS did management of disk reads though. I think Xen might, as I think it abstracts disk access, but I'm not sure about Virtuozzo.

EDIT: The current version of Xen does QoS for CPU and network, but NOT for the disk. QoS on the disk is supposed to go into the next major version, Xen 3.0
