i'm a new user to this field. i've never used plesk/windows 2003 before.
and i think i entered the hostname wrong in PLESK 7.0 how can i change it? and how do i actually make a hostname? wen i called my server technician, he told me to put.. : server.mydomain.com.
so since my domain is for ex: site1.com ,
for the hostname in plesk 7.0, i put: server.site1.com
i think that is wrong.
and another quest:
this is done on wrong hostname i guess. but if u can.. please help me out with this.
i added a client/domain to my plesk 7.0 account. and how do i point that domain to a file in a directory in my box. ex: C:websiteindex.html
how do i point the domain to that file? its my first time..configuring this..
looking forward to a solution
thank you

I have not used Plesk but if I am not wrong, all sites created would go to a default folder defined by Plesk. From within the control panel, I do not believe that you have the flexibility of selecting the folder that you want. That's part of automation.
However, if you abandon the control panel and use a stock Windows server, you can use IIS Manager to define which directory each site would reside in. However in doing so, you will need to define all the permissions and set up the other services by hand.

You dont have to set it to point to a certain place. Im kinda new to this and i talked to this guy whose been using plesk for like 2 years.
He told me first, create a client, under that client you can have many domains. Make sure to add the pool of IP's in the server section. Then after you add the IP's to the server pool then you want to create a client. After you setup the client you want to add a domain to that client account. After your domain is setup go to the dns settings under domains and pick the ip that you want to go to the domain. You can have the same ip go to more than one domain. I have 2 domains setup on 1 ip. When you type in www.yourdomain.com it will automatically direct you to the proper domain by the request.
You dont have to create it
Hope this helps, I am in no way a plesk expert so if someone wants to chime in now would be a good time.
