I use the function

Copy an account from another server with account password

to copy some sites on a new server

for some sites it is working and for some other I got :

Sorry, the copy failed. Unable to find the cpanel user file. Is the archive missing (cwd: /**/cp/***)?

Seems that with backup files it is the same....when importing the backup same error...

I don't know the answer to your probem, but to be safe when copying sites like that, I always make sure the source and destination cpanel are exactly the same version, just to be safe.

Edit: take a look here, this could be your problem if you don't have root access on the orginatiing server.

now it work by importing diurectly the tar file..
