Hi peeps,
Server is all nice and up to date. Trying to do apache and ftp though and I get the error in /var/log/ that states
burns# more < httpd-error.log
[Wed Jan 26 12:04:28 2005] [alert] mod_unique_id: unable to gethostbyname("burns.servermatrix.com")
Before i move my domain across I want to test and configure so I am happy if it just doesnt resolve but brings it up on an ip. FTP getting same kind of errors.
How do i fix it to just bring apache n ftp up on the ip address ?

You need to setup a valid hostname. You wont be able to use burns.servermatrix.com unless you can talk them into adding that to their dns records, good luck =P.

Another way to get around it is to add an entry to /etc/hosts with your local hostname and ip address. While your system won't have a valid hostname, you'll be able to get past those startup errors.
