Mr. Crosby added that The Planet began outfitting the new facility, dubbed DLLSTX5, on January 1, 2005, and expects to begin initial operations within the next several weeks. He said the company signed a 10-year lease on the facility.

The eternal question !... icon_lol.gif
TFArchive
I asked them yesterday if it was going live today and they said they are running a little behind and will update us when it will be open.
thanh
As soon as we are ready to bring servers online, everybody will know. icon_smile.gif
jt2377
so...still no word on the new DC?
eddy2099
I guess we could keep our fingers crossed as this is the start of the new week and in a couple of hours time, the new work day would officially begin. They seems to be in the habit of coming out with big announcements at the end of the work day.. I guess things gets more exciting with the suspsense.
challii
considering the rumours started with the new DC opening dec 1st 2004, im certainly not going to be holding my breath for too long!

Halfway in to the month and I'm not sure how much longer I can hold out for another system here.... icon_cry.gif

If you need a new server, buy one. There's still space in the other 2 datacenters yet.
RaynServ
I have no doubts of that fact. My interests lies in possible coming deals to be had with the expected opening. I'm nearly ready for 2 more boxes at this point but I'm holding out and working the pants off my xeons as best I can until that time. I believe that there is a good possibility for some kind of sweet deal to existing clients in the works and so I'm standing in line with the rest of them awaiting news of the activation.

It's so close now. icon_smile.gif

Let's see who would be Rack 1 Server 1 on the new DC icon_wink.gif

Thats fine, I'll take Rack 0 Server 0

I'm hanging thanh....I'm hanging. Something nice for existing clients would be a "good thing" for those who wait. Patience can be a virtue.

They'd prefer you to buy your server now, rather than in a sale though icon_wink.gif

If you business needs it, buy it, if not, then what's the hurry about getting the new DC open? icon_razz.gif
RaynServ
It's a careful balance of needs vs wants. I need it but what I want is worth the wait. Nothing is suffering at this point but it's getting close. Business is business for all parties involved but there is no existing "grand-father" clause in this datacenter. So I trust that patience will be my virtue. wink.gif
Guspaz
I have to be honest, I don't care about new sales. I can't afford another server or any added services, and the new deal is unlikely to be better than the current one SM is giving me.
zaitsev
are there going to be any live cams in the new data centre? wink.gif

icon_neutral.gif Wise decision on behalf of TP, else they might get hit with a few bills for therapy.

you guys should of made a documentry called "The Making Of The New DC" and shown the world what really happeneds to get a DC up and running, with servers blowing up here and there, crazzed techs running round try to fix everything, could of been a big hit at the cinemas, no acting required either icon_biggrin.gif
RaynServ
The price of one ServerMatrix machine..... $250
The wage paid to one Network Technician..... $180/day
Getting to the see the technician freak out with the opening of a new datacenter......PRICELESS!

compliments of RaynServ Hosting

That's it. That's done it.

Police time. I'm calling again.

yeah, me too. i got a box with SM right now and i want to get another. i'm holding on for the new DC open and maybe a new deal.

anyway, i have no need but will love to get another one.
Guspaz
I'm sure there will be lots of deals to inaugerate the new DC, companies love to celebrate these sorts of events with more sales and a bigger marketshare icon_wink.gif

I found a stash of pictures we had taken of our D2 facility a while back yesterday. I'll try to aget approval and have them posted here. The netcams do not do our datacenter justice. I know it's not D5, however, I thought these pictures were great. I'll try to get them posted for the folks who are not local to us and want to see how pretty our datacenter is. icon_smile.gif
Guspaz
More pretty than those pictures of DC2 and DC4 posted on that site? icon_razz.gif

Of course those photos were more closeups than large scale views of the datacenter. Though I remember there were quite a few pictures of a few of the NOC employees at their desks icon_smile.gif

That would be cool. Will there be lots of pictures of DC5 available once it is opened? Can you get any pictures of the progress of setting it up?

Is there somewhere I can go to see what the sale prices where the last time a DS (oh god now I sound like everyone else around here) opened?

Oops, that is $10 higher than what they are offering now icon_wink.gif
JimmyTheGrunt
Yeah, that really isn't getting me wet. icon_lol.gif

(I can't believe I just said that)
DeadEye686
I have a 2.4 Celly from a couple of months after D4 opened. $49/month icon_smile.gif

Will this sale include Insomnia gameservers?

But was that with $0 setup or something higher.

I remember paying for the $299/setup for that machine and got the prices down to $59/mth which I am paying today.

(I can't believe I just said that)

LOL! Well, at that time the beauty of the deal was they waived the setup fees for the machine or else it would have been higher. Things were a little more expensive when that datacenter came about.
DeadEye686
Ah yes, Eddy, that was with $299 in setup fees. It was $89 with $0 at the time.
eddy2099
Ouch! Why am I paying more than others icon_redface.gif
