Now that I have console access working on my SM box, I'm pondering changing up my security policy a bit to include securelevel as another layer of deterrence. I've got it running on a test server at home so I can get a feel for it. Wondering if any of you guys have experience using it, and if so, what your thoughts are.

Are you running 4.x or 5.x?
Which level do you use?
What files/dirs do you use with which flags?
Is it worth the trouble?

IIRC, you have to reboot to change the securelevel. If that doesn't bother you, go for it. I haven't played much with it.

After reading through months worth of mailing lists messages and trying things out at home I decided against using securelevel. Level 1 is too easy to bypass for somebody who knows what they are doing. Level 2 is so much of a burdon on regular system administration/update tasks that I didn't feel it was worth the effort.
