I'm trying to add ns3.servermatrix.com and ns4.servermatrix.com as authoritative servers for my domain, but my registrar is not allowing it because ns3 and ns4 have not yet been registered.

Check out this whois output to see what I mean:

I submitted a ticket in Orbit (549385PLNT) but have so far gotten nowhere with front-line support. They refuse to escalate and instead keep demonstrating that they don't understand the problem. I even gave them this link that has step-by-step instructions on how to register a nameserver, but they still don't understand.

I'm posting here in hopes that a more knowledgeable staff member will pick this up instead.

edit: seems they do offer ns3 ns4.

The first question I asked in the ticket was, "Can I use ns3 and ns4 as authoritative servers?" The answer was yes, that in fact it was recommended for customers in dllstx4.

Looks like they exist and have been registered ok.

Yes they exist, no they have not been registered. There IS a difference. Incidentially this is the same difference that front-line support does not seem to be able to distinguish.

ns3 & ns4.servermatrix.com as only meant to be used as resolvers.

Registrations will need to list ns1 & ns2.servermatrix.com as the authorative nameservers.

I hope this clears up the issue, and I apologize if the wrong message was delivered.

Are you sure I am suppose to use ns1 and ns2? Support just told me to use ns3 and ns4. I can't do it on Network Solutions' website. I already lost web today because I tried to change it and it defaulted to NSI's DNS. Email has been down for 24 hours hours. I am not very happy that ServerMatrix's support doesn't even know what DNS servers to tell customers to use.

In my latest server which I ordered on March 26th, the Welcome to Servermatrix email came with this

If you need nameservers for this server, you can use the following:
ns1.servermatrix.com 216.185.111.10
ns2.servermatrix.com 69.56.222.10
