If you do not have a control panel which supports Urchin on the machine, you will need to set up each profile one by one.
Launch the Urchin Administration on your server or remotely on your computer.
Then click on 'Configuration' . This should typically show you a list of the profiles you have with an 'Add' button. Click on that. You will be shown a wizard.
First Screen, this will ask for your profie name. Enter anything which would be meaningful for this profile such as the site name.
On the 2nd page, enter the site URL and all those details as requested.
On the 3rd page, it will ask for the source file. This will be the log files stored by IIS. Click on Add and leave at the default and click next.
It will then asked for the location of the log file. Use browse and navigate to where your logs are stored.
**If you do not know where the logs are then launch IIS Manager and navigate under the WebSite branch and right mouse click on your site name and select Properties. The first screen of the configuration would have something call 'Logging' at the bottom. Click on Properties and it should show you the location of the log file for this site.
In the Browse of Urchin, select one of the file which ends in the extension '.log' in the stated directory. Once you get back to the 3rd page. Change the filename of the log file to '*.log' . This will allow you to log all the generated logs. By default, they log one file per day.
As for the Log Source Name, just enter anything meaningful like 'Web Log for XXX.com' or something.. then do the NEXT.
Then do next next next until you get the screen asking you if you want to schedule the stats. Click on Schedule Now.
By default, logs are not processed at all. You need to schedule it. Set to your preference. I set it to work every Hour. Set the Task Setting for the timing then click 'Update' and then if you want to see the stats now, click 'Run Now'. That should do the trick.
If you want to allow your client to have access to their logs, you need to add a user. Click on 'User and Group' and 'Add' to add a user.
Enter the username name and all those things and click Next till the end. That should create the user.
Then click on the user name and navigate to 'Report Access' and select the sites the user would have access to the stats. Then save.
That's all there is to it.
