Can you safely change the Administrator password? I went to change it and got an Alert saying all kinds of bad things might happen if I change it ("Changing this password might cause irreversible loss of information. For security purposes, Windows protects certain information by making it impossible to access if the password is reset. This data loss will occur the next time you logoff.")

What, specifically, will I be losing if I change this password? I do not mind learning a new password. But it is only 8 characters long and I would much prefer one 12 or more characters, with a combination of UPPER and lowercase letters.

Yes, That is if you go to the Computer management and click set password
I don't know what kind of information you will use as i have always avoided doing it that way.

The way that dosnt corrupt files is by doing this.

When logged on you have 1 of 2 options:

1) Go into Computer Management
Start > Program files > Administrative Tools > Computer management
Open the folder, Local users and groups
Click on users
Select Administrator, Right click And then click Properties

If 'Password never expires' box is ticked, untick it, Then tick, Change password at next logon

Now when you next log on as Administrator, You will be asked to change your password to something new icon_smile.gif

2) A much easier way is to:

Log on as Administrator, Click Alt + Control + End
Click Change Password

Hope this helps icon_smile.gif

Remember to update your Orbit information with the new password. That way the techs can still log in if they have to.
