also I get this:

any suggestions on what to do here?

The above seems to be related...

As for the segmentation fault error, did you build this on your system, or install from an rpm, or other package?

You're missing something in that first command, you need:

CODE
tripwire -m u -r /path/to/report/from/the/email/whatever.twr


The segfault suggests that you installed it yourself. If you are on RHE, then you can use the mandrake rpm successfully:

CODE
rpm -Uvh http://zeniiia.linux.org.uk/pub/distributions/mandrakelinux/official/official/10.1/i586/media/main/tripwire-2.3.1.2-8mdk.i586.rpm


You will then have to modify the policy file to suit your server.
