I usualy use cPanel under linux box, and I get my first W2K3 server with Plesk.

I don't know where to start... very confused...

1- Do a have to create a client before setting up the rest ?

2- I wanna setup my own DNS server for my main Domain:

mainDomain.com

need to set :
ns1.mainDomain on xx.xx.xx.01
ns2.mainDomain on xx.xx.xx.02

3- How to set a dedicated IP for a Domain?

icon_redface.gif Need helps, very confused compare to cPanel... Thanks...

You have to setup a client to add a domain to him/her.

Setup a client with your name and add your main domain to that. Then edit the DNS settings in there to add ns.yourdomain.com and ns2.yourdomain.com to the appropiate IPs. Then edit the DNS skeleton in the admin panel so that everyone has ns1/ns2.yourdomain.com NS records in their domain names.
I'm assuming you know how to setup up round robin DNS with your registrar.

To set a didecated IP for aa domain, in the admin panel, go to the clients section and edit the IP Pool. Add a domain that is not being used, then edit the domain to use the new dedicated IP. I'm not 100% sure where thats at as I haven't used Plesk since August.

I just see from w2k3 that the DNS server wasn't setting up on the initial OS load from SM.

:shock: So, I wonder how Plesk gear the DNS from my box?...

icon_evil.gif Still find how to set nameservers for a domain...

icon_confused.gif Will try a couple of days, if I will still have problems with the F?!x@зг Plesk, I will downgrade the box without it...

Plesk has its own dns server. Don't turn on the Windows one or else you will run into problems with resolving domains.

At least thats what happened to me with Win2k3 and Plesk 6.5. Dunno if its changed since them.

I dont think that a waive will apply since its not Plesk not working. Instead its you not knowing how to make it work. But lets leave that to whom may it concern.

Meanwhile try this:

1) Create a client
2) Add a domain to that client
3) Modify de DNS zone for that domain as follows:

XXX.XXX.XXX.AAA/24 PTR yourdomain.com.
ftp.yourdomain.com. CNAME yourdomain.com.
yourdomain.com. A XXX.XXX.XXX.AAA
yourdomain.com. MX (10) mail.yourdomain.com.
yourdomain.com. NS ns1.yourdomain.com.
yourdomain.com. NS ns2.yourdomain.com.
mail.yourdomain.com. A XXX.XXX.XXX.AAA
ns.yourdomain.com. A XXX.XXX.XXX.AAA
ns2.yourdomain.com. A XXX.XXX.XXX.BBB
webmail.yourdomain.com. A XXX.XXX.XXX.AAA
www.yourdomain.com. CNAME yourdomain.com.

At plesk interface feel free to add, and remove record types to match this.

Of course, the above assuming that you have already registered your Nameservers, or will do, pointing to:

ns1.yourdomain.com. -> XXX.XXX.XXX.AAA
ns2.yourdomain.com. -> XXX.XXX.XXX.BBB

the webmail.yourdomain.com..... doesnt have to be added since its done when you enable webmail at Plesk>>domain>>mail>>preferences.

If its not too late,hope thats of any help.

I cannot place any IP xxx.xxx.xxx.aaa on a ns entry, Plesk place automatigly the IP for me.

What do you mean you can not?

If there is another entry at the DNS records for that domai, all you have to do is select it and remove it.

If you are talking about this record:

ns1.yourdomain.com.____ A____ XXX.XXX.XXX.AAA
ns2.yourdomain.com.____ A____ XXX.XXX.XXX.BBB

then you have to add it as an "A" DNS record type.

Just get sure that you are doing this at the DNS zone for the domain, and not at the Server's DNS zone template (its name its self explainatory: just a template)

or

If you are talking about this part (Pointing your registered nameservers to your IPs):
ns1.yourdomain.com. -> XXX.XXX.XXX.AAA
ns2.yourdomain.com. -> XXX.XXX.XXX.BBB

That has to be done at your registar (Networsolutions, godaddy, or whatever).

Otherwise im not understanding your question. If you try to explain it I will be glad to help.
