Well I hate to ask people to do this but does anyone have the pacific assault files uploaded to a server or on the upload as of course me being in the UK it does not come out until the 19th which is another 10days. If someone has them would you please let me transfer them to my machine until my own copy comes through. I will provide proof of my pre-order if you want it before sending it to me.
Not out hear yet either....
At least EB has not called me yet.

In true EA fashion they screwed this one up as well. set net_ip argument doesn't work. You must find a creative way to set the ip....
why doesn't this surprise me? Oh yeah we are talking about EA,,,

Well thats screwed. Means I can only have one copy of it per server otherwise peoples servers will start up on all sorts of different IP's. Hopefully they will bring a patch out extremley fast just to fix that. Where did you get this information from anyway?

I will probably be testing it tomorrow on my dual 3.2 /1MB so I will let you know what resources uage is like on that machine.

set net_ip doesn't work and CPU is 25% per instance on Dual 2.8 Xeons.
I also noticed the command line arguements are flaky. SOmetime it will load the config you set, othertimes it loads a default one from god knows where, and names the server Nameless Battle
I have heard some people have found a way around the IP issue by using a batch file with some comands. I will be looking into this issue tonight.
There is allready talk of a patch which will fix the 2 above mentioned problems, but no mention of when... and also a dedicated server file, again no mention of when though.

They better do it fast otherwise everyone is going to be very annoyed at them. It cant exactly take them long to make a few quick fixes.

I was reading MOH:PA manual and under Dedicated Server Technology TOS I found this: You may not run a commercial Business using the Dedicated Server Technology we provide for multiplayer gaming. You may not distribute this tool to others. Blah blah blah, I'm not sure what that covers or if they plan on enforceing that rule but they could potentially force us out of that market. I wouldn't be surprised if EA forced us out so their dedicated server could take over. Ala America's Army.

I guess we will have to wait and see what becomes of it. Judging by what you posted above we legally can't rent servers for it. Possibly they will be releasing a dedicated server piece for the game? Who knows. I also think they may have nerfed the set net_ip on purpose, to get more of the server rentals themselves.

I will give them a call when I get a chance and ask them about it. I doubt it will exactly stop people from selling it anyway.

We have heard rumors of people saying it works as it should, others say they are running batch files to get it to work, and yet others are saying it doesn't work.
I can tell you that when you set the IP in the command line arguments, the console shows Winsock initializing on that IP. But from what I can see the game still binds itself to the box's main IP regardless of what the console is saying.
As of right now, I have found no post or info anywhere that corrects the IP issue.

Well since they have fooking their games up down to a science, they figured why not put the GSPs out of business while we think of what the next major fooked up game will release next

I asked a friend today for the lowdown on the TOS for the dedicated server. You CAN use it. They are referring to the DSLauncher in the TOS, not the game itself. If you start the game without the DS Launcher (which I don't know why anyone would) you are fine to host it.
Also the IP variable will not work! EA has this issue in hand and plan on fixing it with the first patch. As far as getting a server up and running now, you will have to allow it to run on your box's default IP for the moment. Below is the command line arguments to use:
+set dedicated 2 +exec server.cfg
The port command..set net_port xxxxx does work if you would liek to run more than 1 game on the 1 ip. So you can add that if needed.
Also, make sure your config file is named server.cfg. If you try to create another one with a different name and call it via the command line, it won't work.
I think the IP issue may be EA trying to cash in on the server market early to make some cash, but who knows. It just seems like a HUGE thing to be overlooked in a game release IMO.
