For $12 you could probably just about stretch to a book of ebay which would probably teach you alot more than someone could for $12.
I recommend the SAMS Tech Yourself in 24 Hours:

Theres also quite a few free guides about on the internet that you could print off and read.

Stanley,
If I may make a suggestion- if you're on a low budget, you may not want to be wasting your money on a dedicated server that you don't know how to use. I'm not saying you give up on the endevour though.
Take a cheap computer at your house, load Slackware Linux 10.0 on it, and force yourself to learn it. Once you've become proficient at it, THEN go out and get your dedicated server.
Life will be much easier then.

$12 isn't much really for management help. Usually consultants charge anywhere between $25/hr and $75/hr depending on the job. These forums are here to help though. Where are you stuck? What do you need to know?

What server are you leasing? Depending on your cost you could be better off going with one of the GSP's here.
As said...if you are familiar with Windows then you might want to pony up the $$'s for an OS install.
