This sticky is to cover basic questions about how Virtuozzo is sold and implemented at The Planet. The Virtuozzo forum at http://forum.sw-soft.com will have more technical information.
1) What is Virtuozzo?
Virtuozzo is a product that allows one dedicated server, also called Hardware Node, to be split up in to multiple virtual servers known as Virtual Environments (VE).
2) What OS does Virtuozzo run on?
At The Planet and ServerMatrix we are only offering Virtuozzo running on top of Red Hat Enterprise or Windows 2003.
3) Does The Planet or Server Matrix selll individual Virtual Envronments?
No. We are only selling the Virtuozzo Enabled Servers. Think of it as us selling the whole pie and the knife to cut it up with. We are not selling individual slices.
4) How do I manage the Virtuozzo Software?
Each license pack (10VE, 30VE, 100VE, etc) comes with one single-seat license of VZMC. VZMC ais used to create, manage, and delete VEs.
5) How many IP addresses do I need?
Each Virtual Environment requires at least one IP address. Plus the server itself needs one, plus the Service Virtual Environment requires one. The answer is at least the number of VEs plus two.
6) Why is Virtuozzo for Windows more expensive than Virtuozzo for Linux?
By default, each machine allows two remote desktop connections, so The Planet is including 10 Terminal Services Licenses with each server ordered with Virtuozzo for Windows.
