One of them draws 500 GB monthly, the other one is just up and will probably draw 9 GB this month

I run an FTP server for an Anime-Fansubbing (unlicensed) group with an average episode/file around 175MB. Multiply that by the demand for the file and our membership (anywhere from 200 to 400 members) then x4 (weekly releases) I do some severe transfers.
When I was with (another) hosting company I was pushing Terabytes per month, and I'm considering moving up to an umnetered server here very shortly.
I'm also hosting a small shoutcast server for a friend, although that doesn't chew up very much, when you broadcast to 10 users at 128kbps, 24/7, that too will eat some bandwidth

I have only about 25 gigs so far this month...but not running my game servers, anymore. TeamSpeak doesn't get much traffic anywmore, and my clients' websites seem to be hit less this month. Shoutcast has alos been offline until last night (as I forgot to turn it back on after installing cPanel

Old server for this month is in the region of 170gb, from the start of the month.
Dual Xeon which came up on the 7th is already at 151gb.
Probably going to head into 500gb for the new box this month, and then upwards to 1000gb + next month.

I'd be VERY interested to see what gordonp does
Actually, I'd be curious to know not the exact person but thier outgoing amount per month
I'm sure with the raised unmetered limit - some people will start climbing but if you pushed 2mb/sec for 30 days straight....damn!

. I use most of my 100mb unmetered nearly 24/7. Im currently toying with other providers as the 5 * 20 setup is not ideal.
Premium bandwidth on the other hand I only use about 3,000 out of 7,200 gigs/mo.

im curious how you pay for all of this....you dont charge anything with putfile...so...im just curious.

I making it a policy not to pack more than 5 sites on 1 machine or not more than 3 active sites. That's why I probably need to get another machine sometime down the road

Mar 17 2005, 07:42 PM
Not too ambitious I hope. In my world, I am just trying to be realistic. All I want is the best for my clients. Afterall, they are paying for it

They do get touchy when things slows down for them and some demand their privacy. Some do not want to be placed on the same machine as their competitors.
If I had it my way, I would have 1 site per server but I need to make some money providing what I am doing. What they do not know would not hurt them.

One of them is my personal box, which is just relaying a couple of shoutcast streams. The other 10... if I told you, I'd have to kill you
(I actually missed one out, there's a servermatrix box as a DNS relay which uses a couple hundred MB out of its 1200GB, so the grand total is 23200GB

My server pushes 1900GB per month, and the only reason it doesn't go over is because several websites have their throughput capped.

i got 10 gaming boxes that average around 500 gb a month. My webserver just passed 800gb and im worried since I only have 1200. Got my buisness site plus a huge fpsdownload site that is growing fast. Unique hits are almost doubling each month. While I do expect the growth to slow soon, i still need room to grow.

Back in the day, when each server came with 1000GB/mth, I was pushing 1000GB on the first server, and probably half that on the second server.
That site is long gone though. Now my single box does about 150GB/mth, and most of that is from a UT2004 server. I'm trying to launch a new site though, if that takes off my bandwidth usage should go up a lot.
