Can yall give me a feel of what ports common games run on. I am trying to narrow the range down to a couple of ranges to do some network traffic analysis.

Here is what I have.

7000-8000 tcp/udp - Unreal type games
26000-30000 tcp/udp - Quake, Doom, HL, COD, etc.
14000-16000 tcp/dpc - Battlefield type games
2300-2400 tcp/udp - Halo and whatnot

I don't think there is a determinable pattern. I immediately recognized Medal of Honor doesn't fit your criteria for quake basd games (Default port: 12203)

15567/udp is Battlefield Vietnam
14567/udp is Battlefield 1942
28960/udp is Call of Duty and Call of Duty United Offensive
27015/udp is Half Life and it's Mods (Day of Defeat and Counterstrike to name a few)

My understanding is for gameplay that client uses a random 1024+ port and pushes a connection to the server on said port. They then talk pushing UDP packets to each other on that port. Server keeps track of who is who by their source port. If you shoot me a PM, I can you an ethereal dump of Vietnam and Call of Duty and a server you could monitor with packet sniffing or whatever tools you wanting that has Call of Duty Traffic.

MOH doesnt need just port 12203 open, there's a couple of other ports it needs as well to show in gamespy etc.
I remember that game was a pain when I was trying to figure out what ports to open on firewall.

SRCDS (Source, HL2, CSS):

27015/udp (Game/server port)
27005/udp (Client port) *
27020/udp (Query port)
27015/tcp (Rcon port)

CSS/Source automaticly increments the port number upward from this is it starts and finds the port already in use. These are the defaults.

* (This may be a bug in the DS, only clients should open this)

I guess what i am looking for is games run that are not included in my original posting.
