I want to set up backup/secondary DNS. I currently host my own DNS records but want to add secondary DNS for efficency/backup. I'm currently dabbling with http://www.XNAME.org but it would be much easier if i could get servermatrix to do it for me!

Does anybody know if they do this?

yes, that's a great idea if you don't have two actual nameservers. You'll have to update changes to the SM nameservers via tickets though, you can't setup any kind of slave/master dns with them.

Great! Even if i cant update the secondary DNS automatically. Do you know if it's possible to specify the SOA refresh rates and add MX records too?

Well that's odd... because that's how I have my dns setup with them. You do have to open tickets to get each domain added by a tech, for security reasons, but once added they'll update from your primary dns server. Or you can manage your dns all from Orbit, also have to get a tech to add your domain in then too, but you can edit anything after they're in.

well that's great, that is a big time and effort saver. It makes a good solution for some of those running their own nameserver on only one box.
