I asked SM to point my domains to IP's I was assigned and asked for reverse lookups to be added (I was using the SM nameservers). This worked fine but I decided to use my own nameservers so set them up on my server but had to use the IP's I previously asked SM to assign to domains.

When I check the settings with dnsreport etc everything shows up to be working fine and I'm able to browse to the websites. The problem is I can't get the mail server to work. I did a reverse dns lookup at dnsstuff.com and that's showing the domains that I previously asked SM to point.

Do I have to ask SM to change this even though I'm using my own DNS Server now? I thought reverse dns would look at my server first but it seems to be checking the PTR records on the SM name servers.

I'm not sure about your mail problem, but for sure SM has to provide you the reverse dns service, you can't do that yourself, even if you're running your own dns server.

Thanks, I think the mail issue is because other mail servers can't authenticate the email sender with reverse dns. Will see what SM say icon_smile.gif
