I am migrating servers, old servers have Plesk 5 and I use normal FTP upload files to the domains. However my new SM box does not allow FTP, or standard telnet (it is ok - security), but I cannot seem to sftp into a domain created using the IP address of the box, I am able to sftp in using say root, I am guessing that sftp needs the domain name rather than IP address? (FTP seemed to allow this)
for now I have uploaded the domain using root and chown the files, as I need 0 downtime when the DNS switch propogates.

I am thinking it is something else.
My question is: can anyone SFTP into a domain in plesk 7? if so what are your settings?
just ran this test on my old server (using a very old domain name) - ftp into admin: ok, sftp into admin: ok, ftp into a domain: ok, sftp into same domain: error could not connect. That is using the domain name, rather than IP.

Just enabled normal FTP (on the new server) and it works fine. Will stick with that for now.

For them to be able to sftp, they need to have a valid login shell.
