I am going to do this manually using a plain server with simple dns plus.

however, i cant find a way of making helm enter the second domain server into a newly created dns record... i suppose ii could add this manually under windows 2003 dns server?

any other ideas

I think you're going to have to setup some things manually because the single server license provided by SM doesn't directly support secondary DNS. I think you can setup your secondary DNS to periodically update its records from the primary, but I'm not sure how you're going to get Helm to automatically insert these DNS records for NS2 into the zones. Everytime I've tried to enter a DNS server IP that wasn't on that server, it wouldn't let me. You may be able to find a work-around for this on their forums.

This is one of the reasons we dropped our Helm license. I didn't feel the single server license was good enough for a production server because it didn't provide for secondary DNS by default. I guess they figure if you're only running 1 server and it goes down then everything goes down so secondary nameservers wouldnt' matter.

What do I use for what? A windows control panel? I had HSphere installed on it because I wanted a cross platform control panel for Linux as well as Windows, but it's not something I'd recommend for a beginner because it's even more difficult than Helm. With HSphere though, all DNS servers run off of the Linux servers and not the windows servers.

Based on my experience with Plesk on Linux, if the windows version is similar then Plesk would probably be one of the easier control panels of those available here.
