I have servers with EV1 that run RedHat 7.3 and Ensim 3.5. I just picked up a ServerMatrix RHE3 server to play around with because I feel that I'm paying too much for a lot of fluff at EV1. My plan is to eventually migrate to SM if all goes well. I have a couple of questions for you guys who have been here for a while....

1. What open-source CP do you recommend? I've done a little research, and I see both good and bad about webmin, zpanel, and a few others. My leaning is toward webmin.

2. What firewall do you recommend? I use apf on my EV1 servers, and it has worked well, but I'd like to hear from y'all on this.

I recommend you learn how to use IPTables itself, as apf is just a front end, and has quite a bit of overhead in the way it does rules.

As for the control panel, I personally wouldnt use anything other than Webmin. I don't really like how the rest of them get so far deep into the config of the server. It gets to the point where you cannot uninstall them, you have to reload the OS.
