I have a rediculous question. Does Helm automatically start up as a service with the computer? If so how do I shut it down?

Helm runs as a website in IIS. Disable the website and you disable Helm.

yes, it applies to Helm 3.2.10 as well.
Helm starts up with by running some DCOM which you may found in the Component Services on the server. You may shut that down and eventually it will shut Helm down as well.

It makes more sense if you understand the architecture.
HELM only manages the services on your server. Think of it as a little ugly elf that takes orders from your customers, walks over to the mail/dns/web interfaces and configures them as requested.
HELM is two parts. A web interface and a set of programs encapsulated in DCOM. You can shut down the web interface and the ugly little elf goes on vacation. Hopefully to take a bath, but more than likely instead hops in the '72 Impala and drives down to the store to grab a bottle of whiskey and some smokes.

I have never really like the little elf. Thinking of getting DotNetPanel for our next Windows server. I believe it uses a fairy instead of an elf

helm can be like an ugly elf (he he he) but it has a good control of the server as it just manage services and not install then you can be safe that the panel will not harm your server...
