just a quick note for you guys... so you can tweak your plesk load and as a warning of possible issues to come.

first off, nice job. i am setting up a plesk server for someone else purchased just a week or two ago and i see that your default load has much improved from when i set mine up a few months ago. (i had missing packages and a few misc. things to clean up).

here's the main thing you need to change or watch out for.

in up2date's config you need to add 'httpd*' to the pkgskiplist.
yes that sounds dumb but its not. httpd needs to be updated manually on any plesk system. i dont mean you cant use up2date to do it. but right after updating httpd you will need to replace the default apache 'suexec' binary with plesks wrapper 'psa-suexec' or all cgi content will break. now perhaps you see the need to add that to the pkgskiplist, that is unless you want cgi to break in the middle of the night on a bunch of your managed servers and get lots of phone calls in the morning after the next apache update comes out.

Just 1 additional pkgskip is nothing compared to the dozen or so to add to the pkgskip list for HSphere.

yeah.. i think a lot of the CP's are like that.. gotta use their custom rpms or nothing works... which means waiting for security updates with your cheeze hanging in the wind... thats why i like plesk... (besides i love horde, mailman, and qmail's better than sendmail but i still prefer postfix if i had my choice)

i still dunno why RH sticks with mysql 3 though... thats kind of annoying... i would hardly consider 4 unstable or having compatibility issues.

Other control panels have gone beyond mysql 3 and sendmail also. Cpanel includes mysql 4 and exim with their install. And not only do they include horde, but also neomail and squirrelmail. I'm not sure if cpanel has it's custom rpm, but it does seem to integrate some other things into the system.
