I've created a subdomain in Plesk (linux) and it's not resolving. My main domain works fine.

Do subdomains take time to resolve or is there a step i'm missing.

I'm actually having the same problem with webmail ... webmail.domain.com is not resolving .. yet domain.com and ftp.domain.com are.

Thx

are you using SM's DNS servers or your own?

I'm using servermatrix's DNS servers.

They are resolved. Here is my main domain .. www.gnbits.com

If you are using SM DNS, you need to submit each subdomain and domain which you create on your machine on the Orbit's Domain Admin ticket. If it ain't there, it cannot be resolved.

wow that sux lol .. ok i can do that

should i submit for webmail as well .. it appears as tho you can have webmail.domain.com

thx for the help btw icon_biggrin.gif

Yup, you need to submit that also.

Actually after the domain has been added, you can edit and thus add in those subdomains yourself without having to wait for them to do it for you.

well, thats what I was saying I did do .. in plesk

I made acc.gnbits.com .. but its not resolving for some reason, and I wasn't sure if it was sumthing i did or not.

also setup webmail, which i noticed was trying to goto webmail.gnbits.com (in plesk) .. but the actual link doesn not work .. only gnbits.com/webmail

so i was stumped .. i put in a ticket, we'll see what happens .. been waiting about 4hrs now .. SM seems to be busy :/

If gnbits.com is already submitted to their DNS Servers then you could set up those subdomains on your own.

Go to Orbit, under 'Network', 'Domain Admin' and click on the domain name 'gnbits.com' on the list. Followed by 'Edit Zone' and under 'Standard Resource Records (A,CNAME,TXT)', enter the following in a blank line

NAME : acc
Type : A
Data : <The IP for the site>

Then click 'Submit' and 'Publish' on the next page.

Then wait about 6 hours and it should work fine.

There is no need to submit a ticket for that.
