Ok, I decided to take the plunge icon_lol.gif

So far this is what I have/know:

Vietcong is stand alone and has an expansion titled First Alpha. You can get both together under the title Vietcong Purple Haze.

It has a nice dedicated server exe (server is windows only)

There is 1 patch and a couple maps to update.
Install size is 2.2 gigs.

The dedicated server has an easy to use setup screen to make your config file.

An empty 20 player server uses a little over 100MB of RAM.

As soon as I can get some people in the game ill report cpu from a dual xeon.

I had 2 people ask over the last few months but never hosted it yet.

Is there a dedicated server free file you can download or you have to buy the game?

The guy above said it had a dedicated windows version icon_smile.gif

I actually own the game. I thought the characters looked like rats icon_smile.gif

Ok, here is the updated info:

The game comes with a dedicated server executable vcded.exe

When you run it it brings up a small gui to configure the server. If you hit save, it saves the configurations and map list to a file you name ex: MYSERVER.ded
This file can be edited with a text editor.
To get the server to run without the gui configuration popup, add -dedicated MYSERVER.ded to the command line.
To get the server to run the addon fist alpha add -addon fistalpha to it.

Here is my command line:

vcded.exe -addon fistalpha -dedicated speedwise.ded

It is a bit heavy on cpu, a full 20 player server runs approx 16% on dual xeon 2.8

The biggest issue I have with it is that I have yet to find a command to bind the game to only 1 IP address. You can change the port, but there is no command to bind to 1 IP icon_evil.gif
