Hey,

New to the world of dedicated servers and need some setup adise for Cpanel/DNS.

Got the following set of domains

domaina.com / net / co.uk
domainb.co.uk
domainc.co.uk
domaind.co.uk

I will be installing ColdFusion as an app server which all the sites will use (that's fine) but my question is what cpanel users should i create for things such as webmail.

Should I create a Cpanel user for each domain? I will need MySQL for at least 3 domains so would the best way be to create the databases under each cpanel account or a central one?

Hope this makes sense and cheers in advance icon_smile.gif

When you create a web site account on your server in WHM, it would allow you to determine a web/cpanel user for that account and sets it all up for you.

Cheers for that.

Another thing is on actually getting the domains on the server. I know I have to change the NS at my current host and raise a Domain Ticket in Orbit (using SM NS's), but do I need to park the domains in the WHM or at the individual Cpanel user level (once they're created)... or does WHM show all the domains that are setup within Cpanel users?

Cheers, Ian

PS sorry for all the questions and thanks for your help icon_smile.gif

WHM assumes that you are using the box to host your own DNS servers. You could set it up by going through the motion but just using use SM DNS servers.

When you create the web account in WHM, it would ask for 3 information, the cpanel user name, domain name and password. Once it is set up, it would appear in WHM and that sites would have Cpanel access.
