I ran /scripts/securetmp and it created some wrong stuff:

/dev/hda2 71G 4.1G 63G 7% /
/dev/hda1 99M 35M 59M 38% /boot
none 503M 0 503M 0% /dev/shm
/dev/hdb1 74G 851M 69G 2% /mnt/backup
/usr/tmpDSK 243M 195M 36M 85% /tmp
/tmp 243M 195M 36M 85% /var/tmp

Now can someone tell me a way how secure to remove that /usr/tmpDSK and add 3 gigs to /tmp size ?

I am not sure if it is possible but you might be able to repartition the /hdb drive and move your /tmp folder there.

I believe that repartition would involved deleting all partitions and thus all files and starting from fresh.

Alternatively if there is nothing on your main harddisk, you could request for an OS Reload for $75 and have them repartition it to exactly what you want.

I've never needed over 250mb /tmp so far. Do others need more than this?

Jonathan thanks for your input I have tried your script but it came with error:

root@gama [/tmp]# umount /tmp
umount: /tmp: device is busy

Anyone know how to make /tmp go for a cup of coffe? icon_smile.gif

There's going to be a file open in /tmp. Try running the following to find it:

lsof | grep /tmp
