Full Version: Creating personalised nameservers for my Resellers...?
The Planet Forums > System Administration > DNS Hosting

Hi,

I am going to soon be purchasing a ServerMatrix Dedicated Server, and I am hoping to offer reseller accounts to my customers. Along with their account I would like to be able to offer Personalised Nameservers (eg. ns1.theirdomain.com, ns2.theirdomain.com).

I would like to know how this can be achived, and possibly acquire a short walkthrough (or the link to one already on the forums which I haven't seen)?

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,

Which Operating System and which Control Panels ? It is definitely possible to provide for personalized domain name servers for resellers but you might need to provide them with their own dedicated IP addresses to achieve that anonymity.

Hi,

Thanks for replying!

We are planning on running RedHat Enterprise 3.0, and using cPanel/WHM. It is certainly possible for us to offer 2 ip's per reseller if necessary as we are initially purchasing 29!

Thanks for your time.

Kind Regards,

Hi,

Look here for instructions on setting up nameservers:

http://forums.servermatrix.com/viewtopic.php?t=241

The instructions are originally geared for your own nameservers, but the steps are basically the same for setting up 2 extra dedicated IPs as nameservers for a private reseller.

If you want to setup shared nameservers (i.e. have mutiple nameserver hostnames point to the same IPs), it's slightly more involved.
