Hi,

I've been trying to install the dns only version of cpanel on a new server, but I've been having some problems.
I downloaded the latest version from cpanel and kicked off the install, which seemed to 'hang' at installing perl modules.
I read on some forums that if you kill the perl install process then it will carry on and complete.
I did this and it *seemed* to install, but a lot of whm functions seem to be missing/not working, so I'm guessing the install did NOT in fact work correctly.

I only see about 1/2 a dozen items in the menu on the left in whm, but if I click on "main" at the top, I get all the icons I would have in the normal whm version.
If I go into server setup, change hostname or manage nameserver ips for example, I get a blank screen - probably because there is no scripts2 directory on the server?

I've tried /scripts/upcp and /scripts/fixeverything to no avail.

I pointed my domain at it and I get this at dnsreport:

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

Try again. Over the weekend, DedicatedNow was moving servers from NAC to their own facilities and for some reasons, there was some delay. The reason I am mentioning this is because Cpanel's servers are all hosted on DedicatedNow network and was apparently involved in the move.

If you are unable to upgrade now, drop support a ticket and have them fix it for you. I had a prior incident during one of the launched of one of the updates and apparently too many people tried to log in to their machine which causes it to lock up which caused the update to fail in the midst so I got a 1/2 updated machine which doesn't work. Support help me resolved the issue.

Hi,

I re-downloaded from cpanel this morning and the install said it worked, but when I go into whm, there's still loads of stuff that doesn't work - eg the server setup, change hostname, nameserver configuration etc etc.

I don't know if some of these simply should not work because it's not the full version but the icons are still present, or if because I tried (and failed) so many times to get the install to work that it's screwed and the install I just ran made certain assumptions because it found a 1/2 installed version already....

Do you mean a support ticket with SM or with Cpanel?
I don't think I can do either.
I can't do one with cpanel because my licensed versions are via my providers, and the dnsonly version is free.
I can't do an SM ticket (i think) because they didn't install it for me - just gave me a bare RHE server..... icon_sad.gif
