Full Version: Getting real close to leaving and going to EV1

Over the last week one of our servers tcmade2own-01 has gone down on average every 6 hours. We have made numerous tickets with support and we are getting little to no feedback. If we do not get some help on this server ASAP we are pulling the plug on all of our servers and moving over to EV1 we can’t continue to have downtime like this. Where is our Gold Services Support? Our 100% SLA? This is completely unacceptable. Please let us know your intentions.

You will really hate life if you go to EV1. They have a tendancy to format the wrong boxes, take boxes down for maintenance without warning and change hardware randomly causing crashes. Then they say no refunds.

Try calling SM if you have a real problem going on or try posting some of the errors you are seeing here.

Did you find out from the logs what is causing the downtime ?

Looks like we finally got someones attention and got the ram replaced. Lets hope this works.

It happened to me, and that's why I moved to The Planet icon_mrgreen.gif

Ev1...hmm..u paid for gold management...

do u know what Ev1 charges for gold - NOTHING...

no i dont mean its free. EV1 stopped management services a long time ago. so basically ull lose on 2 accounts

1) No support regarding problems like what just happened to u here
2) Higher prices, support basically less - since u get something in gold since u paid for it.

ps- i was at ev1 for 1 mth -the problems i faced there freaked me out. I ended up going to reseller business bbut found it sucked n no real guarantees that the company i was with would disappear.
then i went to HOSTMX.com for servers in The Planet.
They promised free support...hmm..2 days after readin 20 tickets from me (okay im a total n00b and thats why i needed support)..they stopepd answering my tickets...and even emails...basically theyve vanished.
and im lost...its been just 1 week (9 days) and i cant contact them, get them to help me or even cancell or refund or something! so i came here - my last , best hope....

my servers being started on setting up now...im sure seeing the portal and the forum..this is agreat place to be. Lets hope im right.

Our server had faulty ram too recently added. I heard of a couple of others too. I think they ordered a faulty batch.

It's pretty common to get some faulty RAM in the bunch, especially with companies like SM/TP, that orders systems and components by the several thousands.

That has not been my experience with EV1, am sorry to say. Been there since 1999 I've never had to wait 2 hours at EV1 for a reboot. I've never had a trouble ticket unanswered at EVI within less than 30 minutes even though my servers there are unmanaged. And am always informed of every progress they make. Same way I will not bad mouth servermatrix anywhere since the little super celery I've had with them for several months now has had 100% uptime.
BUT
This new beautiful Total Control deal is about to give this girl a heart attack!
Whoever heard of waiting 3 days for a plesk key? And no information is exchanged so far other than yesterday an update saying pass was wrong, which I replied to a minute later saying it was changed and UPDATED by me in orbit and giving new pass in comments.
I've had to place 2 more international calls just to find out what is going on.
I know am ranting, but am just a little unhappy. And am sure I'll be happy again once everything is sorted out but in the meantime I can't move any of my clients, and the machine they are on is failing (which is why i came looking for this deal).
Oh well rant over.

I've never had any of those problems with ThePlanet, but I have at EV1, guess it's just "luck of the draw".

Yeah, you are right about the luck of the draw. I got my first SM server in November and all my posts here have been since I ordered the TC a few days ago.

We had never had an issue with EV1 until they changed from Rackshack. icon_smile.gif There are tons of threads of them randomly rebooting, formatting, and modifying the incorrect servers. That string that broke the camel's back with EV1 was when the owner of a server that we used to own, like 8 months prior, ordered a rush OS reinstall. We got charged for the restore and they refused to refund us the money even though it was not our server and we did not order it. We had to do a chargeback to get our money back because they kept saying we don't give refunds. Not real sure how they expected to pull that off since it wasn't even a server on our account.

SM is great, but like any dedicated server you MUST HAVE SOME EXPERIENCE to run them. It isn't just all point and click because there is a GUI.
