I have ran DC hubs off and on while here and never was told it was taboo. It's an entirely different protocol than IRC so I am pretty sure its not against the rules.

I tried it on my PC before, not as a hub, but just to see if it was like a Kazaa. It is really like IRC, and last I checked, file sharing is illegal when copyrights mp3s, and videos are shared.

File sharing and file sharing technology is legal but the transfer of copyrighted materials and medias without explicit permission from the copyright owners would not be legal. Make sure that what you are hosting and allow to be hosted is above board.

DC Hubs don't actually handle any transfers. They only provider a list of connected users, manage the chat room, and perform passive searches (Active searches are done user to user).. No actual file transfering data occurs through the hub.
