I’ve been having some troubles with proftpd. Recently upgraded to CPANEL 9.3.0-RELEASE 5. FTP Seems to be working fine, except for the errors listed below. Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated.
1. WHM/Cpanel says that FTP is down.
2. I'm getting an email every 7 mins. or so telling me that FTP failed and will be started automagicly.
4. FTP seems sluggish now. Before it was lighting fast with no hang-ups. Now there are quit a few hangs.
5) When using FTP to copy a newer version of a file over an old it used to let me. Now I get 550 overwrite permission denied.

You could try the reinstall script:
/scripts/proftpd128

The best to do ..
cp -rp /etc/proftpd.conf /etc/proftpdbackup.conf
then do /scripts/proftpd128 .... that will help you more to fix your problem

Thanks. A SM tech. switched me over to pure-ftp. Seems to work really well. Besides not being able to track FTP bandwidth, any other downfalls of using pure-ftp?

No I can't find any, it's more secure, it's faster and it's less memory intensive. I can't find a bad thing about it
