Full Version: how to install packages (tomcat 4, java sdk, etc)

I am a brand new SM (w/RHEL and Plesk) user, and not sure how to install some packages.

I need to install Java 2 SDK, Tomcat 4, Apache Ant, MySQL 4, MySQL Java Connector, Spam Assassin.

Do I use rpm? up2date? Will this confuse Plesk? Where do I go to determine package names for RHEL?

Thanks,

Cheryl

I located the rpm packages that I needed, in /root/plesk, after finding documentation at http://download1.sw-soft.com/Plesk/Plesk7/...de/ch04s08.html.

You need to first stop Plesk (/etc/init.d/psa stopall), then install the rpms that Plesk will need from /root/plesk (using the plesk documentation shown above as a guide), then restart it (/etc/init.d/psa start).

This seems like a hint that might usefully be added to the activation email.

Doesn't the Plesk Power Pack come with Java, Tomcat, and Spam Assassin?

I didn't give any specific instructions, and these packages were not installed by Server Matrix. Not sure how they decided what to install.

This is an issue that ServerMatrix has agreed to address. Spamassassin should come installed; Mail Man, Cold Fusion, and apache2-mod_perl (at least) are paid installs, with Cold Fusion requiring a paid license. Not sure about the others.
