Full Version: Question about using the Backup option (SM NAS)

Hi,

Last night I ordered some backup space to be used from my server.
Now I noticed you can only use FTP or SAMBA and I was wondering, is there some way to do incremental backups, sending only the changes per day?

I know about Rsync, but I don't think the NAS supports Rsync.
Can somebody clue me in?

I am not sure about Linux but in Windows I could mount the NAS backup space as a drive so incremental updates was no problem.

I guess you might be able to do that with Samba but I am not sure.

Allright, so you used a seperate piece of software to accomplish that.
I might look for that as well

On Windows, mounting the remote space was just like hooking up to a network drive. It is all within the OS.

However, as for the backup, I use Genie Backup for that.

I'll probably mount it as a samba mount and then use cp to move the updated files icon_smile.gif
Thanks
